    The talent making it onto shows and on the Bands to watch list are of merit and Rob says, “Ripstar provides opportunities through radio spinning, live events, and networking for acts to get more attention from the public and in some cases from our industry allies. Slowly, but surely, people are catching on.”

We board in Alameda at 1:45, music starts when we leave the SF Ferry Bldg: 2:25, and we play one time around the bay, the boat will take us all around Angel Island. You may disembark at the same spot you embarked: the boat returns to Alameda: 3:45pm; Oakland: 3:55pm; SF Ferry Bldg: 4:30pm; Pier 41: 4:45pm; etc

Rooster's in Alameda

On Sunday, March 11th, the Alameda music community will once again gather to aid one of their own in need. Well-known Blues and Boogie piano player David Krull is battling a genetic blood disease that attacks the liver and kidneys. Rooster’s Roadhouse (1700 Clement Street at Grand, Alameda, 510.337.9190) will host a benefit concert with all proceeds going to Krull. Needless to say, medical bills are adding up.

The doors will open at 3:00 pm; scheduled acts include David and his band, Daniel Castro, The Alameda All Stars and Strawberry Jam. There will be guest appearances by Pat Potter and Clara Bellino, with other artists yet to be finalized. Rumors are that Barrelhouse Chuck and Big Gay Fish will be on hand. The cover charge is $20. CDs and merchandise will be available.

David’s career began in Kansas City and St. Louis before touring the world with Jimmy Rogers. He has played with many of the greats in the blues world, including Johnnie Johnson, Henry Townsend, Hubert Sumlin, Bonnie Raitt and Elvin Bishop. He moved to Alameda ten years ago and has played with a number of local acts. Last year, he released his first solo CD, Can’t Let Go.

David Krull has always been willing to donate his talents to benefit shows for local causes and individuals. Now, it is Alameda’s chance to return the favor. Please come out in support of David; the fantastic music will be an added bonus! Please pass this on to your friends!

Bobby Sharp, who wrote "Unchain My Heart" sang a song off his album "Fantasy Sessions", then we sang one of his songs as a duet, a song he gave me to release, appropriately called "Hand in Hand". Turnout for David was great.

The band boards at 5:40 in Alameda, and disembarks at 7:45, in Alameda.

Margie Perez and Disaster Relief

New Orleans singer-songwriter Margie Perez, who grew up and performed
on stage for many years in Washington, D.C., brings her New
Orleans-infused pop back home--straight from the Crescent City, where
she has lived since 2004. A WAMMIE nominee and Songwriter's
Association of Washington song contest winner, she has recently
performed with several bands in New Orleans at the legendary
Tipitina's, the Blue Nile and Cafe Brasil. Margie has temporarily
returned home to perform her melodic, danceable, catchy and
often-funny pop songs from her debut CD "Part-time Goddess" with her
new band, "Disaster Relief," featuring members of the band What's
Left.
